Instructions:
Open a new white image of 575 x 450 pixels. Using the Path Drawing Tool draw a tiny ( 7 x 7 pixels) square in 2D, color black. Align: Center Both and Deselect. We know now where the center of our canvas is. That helps us when we use the Clone Tool in the next steps. Open the wd-music.jpg from the download. Arrange both files in your workspace like this:

Change to the Clone Chalk Tool. On the Attribute Toolbar first change the Preset from None to Soft Chalk. We will need to change the other settings too. Doing this PhotoImpact will revert the Preset setting to None, but it will still be available. Set the Brush size to 75 (1) and the Transparency to 25 (2) and click the Paint in Object Mode button (3) like so:

Also change the mode of datum point to clone to Relative.

(In PhotoImpact 10 and earlier versions you can find that command in your Brush panel under Options).

Click on the title bar of the photo to activate it. With your Shift key pressed, click in the center of the rose.

Click on the title bar of the empty white canvas to activate it and in a slow circular motion, starting in the center where the black dot is, move your cursor to clone the rose and it's surroundings to your canvas. Don't worry about the line that will appear at the bottom of your painting. Keep cloning till there is hardly any white in the center of your painting:

When you are happy with your painting, click out of Object Mode . Your painting is an object now. Deselect. Select the black square in your Layer Manager and delete that layer.

Rename your painting layer: painting and Deselect. Rc.: On your Base Image layer and Duplicate. Keep selected. In the Menu bar: Edit - Fill - Gradient tab, fill the white layer with the Multiple colors gradient with these settings. It is ugly but we will fix that.

Keep selected. Menu bar: Photo - Color - Hue and Saturation. Click the Colorize button (1) and change the settings like this (2):

Keep selected. Menu bar: Adjust - Resize. Resize the gradient layer to 50% using these settings:

Keep selected. Menu bar: Edit - Copy and Deselect. Menu bar: Edit - Fill - Image tab. Click the Clipboard radio button and make sure that Tile the Image has a checkmark in it.

Delete the layer with the small gradient. This is what I have so far. My gradient Base Image with my painting on the layer on top of it.
