Mijn naam is Wouter Démoet en ik ben een 57-jarige Nederlander. Ik woon in het “Groene Hart van Holland”. Dit is in het westelijke gedeelte van ons land binnen de cirkel vam Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Den Haag en Utrecht. Ik woon in Alphen aan den Rijn, dat begon als een Romeinse nederzetting met de naam Albaniana of Alphena Castra. Het dorp Alphen is ontstaan op de plaats en resten van een Romeinse 'castellum' of versterking, Albinianae genaamd (wat betekent: " nederzetting aan het witte water " ). Het dateerde uit de eerste eeuw van onze jaartelling, om precies te zijn het jaar 43, toen Claudius van 41 tot 54 keizer van het Romeinse Rijk was. Gelegen aan de linkeroever van de Rhenus, onze Oude Rijn. Op een middeleeuwse kopie van de kaart van Puttinger werd het castellum als Alpheni Castra aangegeven.

Deze nederzetting maakte deel uit van een reeks versterkingen gebouwd aan de Rijn, van Katwijk aan Zee aan de Noordzee tot Bazel aan het Meer van Constance, wat toen de grens vormde tussen het Romeinse Rijk, wat als de 'beschaafde wereld' beschouwd werd en de Keltische 'barbaarse' stammen en volkeren die ten noorden en oosten van de rivier woonden. Het werd in hetzelfde jaar door de Romeinen gesticht als Londen in Engeland.

Hobbies heb ik genoeg. Ik werk graag op mijn computers met het grafische programma PhotoImpact, dat op de markt wordt gebracht door Ulead. Ook hou ik van fotografie, fietsen en zwemmen. Het maken van deze webpagina's is ook een leuke bezigheid voor mij. Om dit mogelijk te maken moest ik XHTML en CSS leren. Heel leuk om te doen. Momenteel studeer ik om de internationaal erkende CIW Associate- en Professional titels in webdesign te behalen.

Ook heb ik veel online opleidingen gevolgd: De PhotoImpact Newbies, de PhotoImpact Beginners Workshop, HTML, XHTML, CSS, Photoimpact, Animaties, Scrapbooking, Filters, Fotografie, Computer Onderhoud, Creatief Schilderen en Webdesign. Op het moment ben ik druk bezig met CSS Positioning en een Introduktie Cursus voor Painter IX. Enkele scholen die ik bezocht heb zijn onder meer: School of Creative Arts, LVS Online, Budding HTML Gurus, WebTech University en WC3.

My name is Wouter Démoet and I am a 57 yrs old Dutchman. I live in the “Green Heart of Holland”. That is the western part of The Netherlands close to the North Sea. My village is named: Alphen aan den Rijn. It is situated in the center of a circle that is formed by Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht. It started out as a Roman settlement with the name Albaniana. It was founded in the year 43, the same year that London (England) was founded by the Romans. Alphen aan den Rijn means: Alphen upon the Rhine. The Rhine is one of the larger rivers in Europe.

I have quite a few hobbies: Making graphics in PhotoImpact, photography, music (opera), biking and swimming. I also like to create my own website. I needed to learn XHTML and CSS in order to be able to make these pages myself. This is now another new hobby of mine. In September 2007 I am going to take a course to get the internationally recognized CIW Associate- en Professional degrees in Webdesign.

I have completed several online courses: PhotoImpact Newbies, PhotoImpact Beginners Workshop, HTML, XHTML, CSS, Photoimpact, Animation, Scrapbooking, Filters, Photography, Computer Maintenance, Creative Painting and Webdesign. I just finished a CSS Positioning Class and an Introduction Class to Painter IX.
